Changangkha Monastery

Perched on a ridge with breath-taking views of the Thimphu valley, the Changangkha monastery has been welcoming visitors for over 800 years. Known as the spiritual home of the newly born of the Chang valley, it is often visited by parents seeking blessings for their children.

Thimphu Clock Tower

The Clock Tower Square is located in the heart of the Thimphu Valley and is buzzing with activity. Surrounded by cafes and shops, it’s a great place to spend an entire afternoon. The Square houses the famous clock tower that is adorned with carvings of dragons and traditional Bhutanese designs. The dragons are meant to represent the independence of the dragon kingdom of Bhutan.

Thimpu Dzong

A Buddhist monastery and a fortress rolled into one, the Thimpu Dzong currently serves as the Bhutanese king's working office. This regal dzong lies to the north of the city and was the site of the formal coronation of the fifth king in 2008. It also hosts the city's biggest annual bash, the colourful tsechu festivities.

Tiger's Nest Monastery

Also known as Paro Taktsang, this is a prominent Himalayan Buddhist sacred site located near Paro. A collection of buildings perched on a cliff, Tiger's Nest is a must-do when visiting Bhutan, especially given the scenic views, which only get better as you ascend.
