Scenic World was founded in 1945 when Harry Hammon transformed a former coal mine into a unique tourist attraction by converting coal skips into what remains the world’s steepest passenger train. Still owned and operated by the Hammon family, Scenic World now welcomes over a million visitors annually and is one of the Blue Mountains’ largest employers.
