About Us: More Than A Museum Welcome to the Indian Heritage Centre! Since our opening in May 2015, we have been a vibrant space, powered by the voices and contributions of the community. From treasured heirlooms and jewels to beloved diaries and family photographs, our five permanent galleries house a plethora of eye-catching artefacts illustrating the story of the Indian and South Asian communities in Singapore.

Start your journey with an immersive multimedia show before diving into the 1st century, where we highlight the early interactions between South Asia and Southeast Asia, evolving to cover the Indian and South Asian community’s global journey and the vital contributions of Indian and South Asian Singaporeans to the nation.

We are more than a museum – hosting a dynamic calendar of performances, workshops, symposiums, masterclasses, and festive events throughout the year, we are a hub for cultural exploration and celebration.

While you are here, take a look at our building, a work of art, inspired by the baoli, a cavernous, fortress-like well with steps leading toward a low-lying water source that was once considered a ubiquitous community gathering spot in India. During the day, our striking façade reflects the Singapore skyline; by night, it comes alive with a mural that lights up, paying homage to the kaleidoscopic streets of the well-loved district.

About Our Building Our 4-storey building is an architectural gem that blends history and modernity. Its facade is inspired by the baoli, a traditional Indian community well with steps leading down to water. This design invites visitors to “walk in the footsteps” of past generations as they explore our galleries.

By day, the building reflects Singapore’s skies and vibrant surroundings. At night, it transforms into a glowing mural of Little India, celebrating the colorful streets of this iconic district.

Visit the Indian Heritage Centre to discover our exhibits, engage with dynamic programming, and celebrate the rich legacy of Singapore’s Indian community.
