We took the Eastern and Oriental Express from Singapore to Bangkok. It was just wonderful, the train looks beautiful from the outside and the inside is even more amazing. We had a state cabin which was perfect. Everything is so well organised and the food is amazing and beautifully served. The 2 trips were excellent with superb guides, you really feel looked after and pampered. We really enjoyed sharing a table with other passengers at meals, (you did have the option to sit alone), the staff are brilliant. I would recommend this trip to anyone, the passing scenery is amazing, I feel so lucky to have been able to do it. Just lovely!"TripAdvisor
The entire experience was wonderful. The french chef cooked wonderful food with Thai and Malaysian influences, the food was amazing bearing in mind it was cooked on the train! The service was exceptional throughout. Trips from the train were well organised with choices. I can't wait to take another trip!"TripAdvisor
Really worth it, you will not regret it. Food on board was excellent and varied as we travelled through the countries. To achieve such a level of cuisine and service in such an environment is impressive. What makes the trip is the observation car, in particular in Thailand. Go there early in the morning. It is quite an achievement to take such a train through 3 countries. On the train, they do provide entertainment with pianist and Thai dancer. Overall, service levels and standards are very high. It is all superbly organized with a large number of staff in the kitchen, in the restaurants, in the bars and in the carriages, plus the managers, train drivers, mechanical staff, porters, guides, etc. We spent close to 40 percent of our 20 day trip in south east Asia on that train journey and we did not regret it."TripAdvisor
