Update 1 May 2023, 5.07 pm AEDT: From May 2023, PARKROYAL Melbourne Airport will be undergoing a refurbishment, expected to be completed in December 2023. Works will be conducted between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). The hotel will continue to operate all services including restaurant, bar, in-room dining, pool, and gym with the location of some of these services altering slightly through refurbishment. We thank you for your understanding as PARKROYAL Melbourne Airport creates their new look hotel.

Was really impressed with everything about this hotel. A very nice welcome from the reception staff and lovely of them to offer breakfast as room service because my flight left before the restaurant was open. Room was very comfortable and well appointed and it's so conveniently located to the terminal. I will definitely return if I have an early flight from Melbourne.

We arrived late from an overseas European flight. We were so tired but forms the hotel easy to access from the airport with using a trolley to carry our luggage across a covered walkway. We were upgraded and given the best suite in the whole hotel! It was amazing. Loved it. We had a drink in the bar and after having paid European prices for our drinks we were pleasantly surprised by the lower cost in comparison. Breakfast was great. So convenient and the view over the runway from level 9 was spectacular!

The setting is calm and clean, with a smart layout that opens into the kitchen—nice touch if you like seeing the action. It’s a good space to unwind before a flight. Lighting is soft, acoustics are gentle, and it feels more like a lounge than a hotel restaurant. Service is brisk, a little transactional. Staff are neutral—polite but distant, edging toward abrupt. No small talk, no real warmth. You’ll get what you need, but don’t expect any extra charm or conversation. The food is beautifully plated. The pork dish had texture and care, but flavour took a back seat. It felt like a dish designed more for presentation than palate. Same with the rice cracker entrée—it looked incredible, but the flavours didn’t come together. Felt like something was missing: salt, acid, a bit of spice, anything to bind it all. The fish main was the standout. Cooked well, skin crisp, flesh moist. The black barley and pickled veg added interest, though again it leaned toward subtlety. Could’ve used one bold note to anchor it. Drinks were on point. The Asahi was cold and clean, and the wine was well-poured. Prices are what you’d expect in an airport setting—no surprises, but you’re definitely paying for convenience. Parkroyal’s restaurant is polished and competent, but holds back a little too much. A bit more flavour in the food and warmth in the service and it could be great. As it stands, it’s a good fallback—not a destination, but a solid pre-flight option.

Fine for 1 night because it’s convenient. They have major building works going on that start early so don’t expect a great sleep after a long flight. Also we had co joining room and paper thin so could hear our neighbours clearly. Paid $100 holding fee and still have not had it refunded 6 working days later !!!
