The Experiences & Sights – See the history, hear the music, taste the local food and feel the vibrant spirit of South America on this tour for the senses

Your tour begins in Santiago, Chile’s vibrant capital city. Set within a circle of snow-capped Andes mountains, it’s known for its rich culture, fascinating art and gourmet food – which you can experience first hand during a welcome dinner at one of the city’s finest local restaurants.

Walking is the best way to explore, with a guided tour taking you on foot through some of Santiago’s most treasured sights. Your knowledgeable guide will talk you through Santiago’s fascinating history as you visit Plaza de Armas, considered the heart of the city, the cathedral and the central market, where you can try Chilean specialities, including local fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, honey, artisan bread and more.

You’ll also visit rural, picturesque Pirque and one of the world’s top wineries, Concha y Toro. Learn about the vines, visit the ancient cellars and – most importantly – indulge in a wine tasting with your fellow travellers.

You’ll also visit Argentina, the birthplace of tango dancing. In Buenos Aires, let professional dancers take you through the steps in a private lesson for your tour group, focusing on learning the basics and understanding the rhythm.

You’ll also visit the iconic Plaza de Mayo, the city square and main foundational site of Buenos Aires, and spend time at a social female empowerment project, dedicated to teaching local women how to make empanadas, a traditional specialty of savoury filled pastries, which you will also get to try here.

In the Argentinian district of San Antiono de Areco, visit a traditional 180-year-old ranch and hacienda. The main house was built in the 19th century and the park around it was designed by the French landscape professional Charles Thays. An important piece of South American history, it was also home to Ricardo Güiraldes, the famous author of the internationally-acclaimed novel “Don Segundo Sombra”. Visit the main house, enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride, witness live folk music and a stunning display of horse-riding skills, and feast on an indulgent “Asado” (traditional barbeque) for lunch, featuring local meats, wines and beers.

Flying to Puerto Iguazu in Argentina you’ll visit the gateway to the mighty Iguazu Falls, with opportunities to explore both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides extensively. Two kilometres in length and made up of 275 waterfalls, it’s a truly spectacular sight, with an exhilarating included zodiac boat ride taking you even closer to the falls.

In beautiful Brazil, start in Rio de Janeiro, where you’ll experience the intense green of Guanabara Bay and the slopes of the Corcovado and Sugarloaf mountains. From the opulent buildings erected by the Portuguese monarchy to the destitute shantytown favelas, the natural white-sand beaches of Copacabana to the manmade skyscrapers: Rio is a city of contrasts and contradictions. A guided tour here will cover important landmarks, including the incredible statue of Christ the Redeemer, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.

You’ll also head to Sao Paulo, Brazil’s largest city and the seventh largest in the world. An extensive tour will take you through the Jardins district, Paulista Avenue, Ibirapuera Park and to several impressive monuments, including the Obelisk, a towering symbol of the Constitutionalist Revolution and the tallest monument in Sao Paulo. Meanwhile, a stop in Liberdade will show you some of the city’s historical sites, including the Se Cathedral and the Monastery of St Benedict.
