• Vodi Point (left-hander): Breaking right off the southwestern tip of Niyama’s Play Island, Vodi is a powerful and sometimes hollow left-hander accessible by a simple paddle out near the Surf Shack. With a more southerly swell, Vodi links up two or three sections beautifully with an outside section that slingshots you down the line, a super hollow middle section and a punchy inside to finish.
• Kasabu (right-hander): One of the longest and most fun rights in the Maldives, Kasabu sits on neighbouring Kudahuvadhoo and is just five minutes away by surf dhoni. Suitable for all surfboard types, it offers super consistent waves in the three to five feet range. Drop into the outside section, work through a couple of playful mid sections, then ride the swell as it wraps through a fun inside section that seems to go on forever.
• Hocus Pocus (advanced break): For surfers who’ve ridden Cokes in the North Malé Atoll, Hocus Pocus will feel right at home. It requires more swell than Kasabu, but rewards with a much hollower, steeper wave. It’s punchy, fast, and loaded with serious barrel sections when conditions align.
• Secret Spots (local knowledge): Beyond the known breaks, Niyama’s surf guides carry years of hard-earned local knowledge of lesser-known waves scattered throughout the Dhaalu Atoll (spots rarely seen on any map). The expert guides monitor conditions daily and will point you to the right break at the right time.
