Mulligan Lodge celebrates Queensland’s diverse outback landscapes and natural beauty. The lodge offers accommodation for just 28 guests in total, ensuring absolute privacy in an idyllic and rugged setting.

The main pavilion is the welcoming heart of Mt. Mulligan Lodge, with a double-sided fireplace, a ‘help yourself’ bar and snack station, and an infinity pool. It’s the ideal space to soak up the majesty of the Ngarrabullgan (Mount Mulligan) escarpment. Charming architecture, elegant rooms and suites perched on the water’s edge of a eucalyptus-fringed weir and expert hospitality ensure absolute indulgence in a quintessentially Australian outback setting.

Dining at Mt. Mulligan Lodge instantly evokes a strong sense of the outback, with the menu showcasing an abundance of foraged, locally sourced and caught, and freshly-grown seasonal produce. An excellent range of iconic and boutique wines from some of Australia’s best wine regions has been hand-selected to comprise the drinks menu, which ensures harmony between cuisine, climate and environment.

Days at the lodge start with a delicious a la carte breakfast, served in the main pavilion and offering delicacies including eggs benedict, smashed avocado, wattle seed pancakes and more, all served alongside coffee, teas and juices. Individually tailored to your taste, the lunch menu includes a choice of a la carte dishes to be enjoyed at the main pavilion, or a gourmet picnic hamper to be enjoyed amid nature. End your day with a decadent nightly dinner prepared with the best regional produce available and accompanied by a selection of fine wines and local beers.

A range of experiences are included in your package to ensure you get the most out of your rugged outback escape. Mt. Mulligan Lodge offers guided tours of the goldfields, including a sighting of Australia’s oldest operating gold stamper at Tyrconnell, exploration of the historic Mt. Mulligan coal mine and abandoned township, ATV adventures so you can discover the history and beauty of the region, wildlife spotting, sunset drinks, Barramundi fishing in the weir, self-guided bush walks and a Mount Mulligan station tour.

Your package also includes unlimited use of paddleboards, kayaks, fishing gear and an electric buggy, so you can explore the property at ease.

Infant Policy: Please note, infants under three years cannot be accommodated in the Outback Retreat, Outback Tent or Outback Room.

Blackout Dates & Surcharges: A non-refundable surcharge per room, per night may apply, payable at the time of booking. Dates and prices are identified in the Booking Calendar. Blackout dates may apply.

7-Day Change of Mind ‘No Questions Asked’ Refund Guarantee: Things don’t always work out. Our 7-day Change of Mind Guarantee is there to help. Bookings (except for cruise bookings, flights and deposit fee, if applicable, which are subject to the cancellation terms of the relevant supplier) may be cancelled with a full refund provided that cancellation occurs strictly within 7 days from the date of purchase and provided that the cancellation is made no less than 14 days prior to the check-in date. Excludes flight and service fee, if applicable.

  • Cancellations outside of the 7-Day Change of Mind period will not be provided, except as required by Australian Consumer Law, your local law or as otherwise provided for in the Fine Print.

Date Changes: If you need to amend your booking, you can self-service ONE date change in your ‘My Escapes’ account up until 45 days before your original check-in date. If you can’t find a suitable date, or still need further assistance, please contact our 24/7 customer service team. Subject to availability and surcharges

Please Note:

  • Menus are subject to change without notice.
  • Breakfast is available from 8am. Lunch is served from 1pm and dinner is served from 7pm.
  • All meals will be served in the Main Pavilion or can be taken as a picnic hamper to eat througout the grounds.
  • If guests wish to swap their included lunch at the lodge for a gourmet picnic hamper, they must advise reception one day in advance.
  • The bar within the Main Pavilion is open throughout the day.
  • Included drinks are: select Australian wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks.
  • Cocktails and cellar wines are not included in the free-flow drinks and must be paid for seperately.
  • Outback experiences are subject to availability and run on selected days of the week only. Experiences include ATV adventure, sunset drinks, tour of the Mount Mulligan townshop and coal mine, Tyrconnell gold mine, Mulligan station tour and nature walks. These are determined by the lodge and there is no need to book in advance.
  • Mt. Mulligan Lodge is closed annually for the wet season (19 January – 28 February 2025)

Transfers

  • Mt. Mulligan Lodge is situated in Queensland’s outback, 160 kilometres northwest of Cairns.

Transfers by Helicopter: Easily accessible from Cairns Airport, enjoy a 35-minute helicopter transfer over the Kuranda Range and Atherton Tablelands to Mt. Mulligan. Domestic passengers arriving into Cairns Airport will be met at the baggage carousel by a friendly member of the Nautilus Aviation team. International passengers will be met after security screening in the arrivals hall – look out for a Nautilus Aviation sign with your surname. For any guests making their own way to the Nautilus Aviation hangar, the address is Hangar 9, Bush Pilot’s Ave, General Aviation, Aeroglen Queensland. Guests are to meet at the hangar no later than 30 minutes prior to their scheduled helicopter departure time.

  • Cairns to Mt. Mulligan – departing 2pm, arriving 2.35pm
  • Mt. Mulligan to Cairns – departing 2.35pm, arriving 3.10pm
  • For guests who leave on the helicopter, late checkout will be offered (subject to availability).
  • The lodge has a departure lounge available for guests’ use. Helicopter transfers have a seat weight capacity of 130 kg.
  • Helicopter transfers are not included for extra guests.

The Lodge offers one daily helicopter service from Cairns. If the daily scheduled charter is fully booked on your preferred dates of travel, or if the scheduled timings do not coincide with your itinerary, a bespoke helicopter charter ex-Cairns may be arranged at an additional cost, starting at A$1,270 for up to two guests, each way.

Transfers by Road: Mt. Mulligan Lodge is a 2.5- to 3-hour 4WD journey from Cairns. The final 45 minutes of the drive is off-road, so unless you are confident and experienced with driving 4WD vehicles on unsealed roads, booking a private 4WD land transfer is suggested. During the wet season (January to March), booking a helicopter charter is recommended, as road closures may occur. Please get in touch with the reservations team to arrange your transfers.
