The lodge is reachable on a scenic drive from both Queenstown (three hours) or Christchurch (three hours and twenty minutes).

Part of the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve –** one of only eight dark sky reserves in the world **– light pollution is strictly controlled in the area, meaning it’s one of the best places in the world to partake in stargazing.
The spectacular Aoraki, Mount Cook and **Lake Pukaki **were chosen by Sir Peter Jackson to feature as the ‘Lake-Town’ is his movie The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Visitors can relive the magic with Lord of the Rings tours.

Behold some of** New Zealand’s most spectacular views at Lakestone Lodge, a charming lodge nestled at the edge of the glistening aquamarine waters of Lake Pukaki.** Set against a backdrop of the** Southern Alps and Mount Cook**, this six-room boutique residence is set in beautiful, lush grounds studded with more than 1,000 native trees, grasses and shrubs.
