The package is valid for ONE PERSON aged 18 years or older (based on twin share). Tipping and gratuities are not included in the package and are at your own discretion (as a guide, approx. US$10-15 per person, per day is the industry standard).

Arrival and departure transfers are only available on the first and last day of the tour. Any arrivals and departures outside of these days will need to make their own arrangements to/from the airport.

Travellers should have a basic level of physical fitness and mobility and must be able to negotiate uneven surfaces, climb stairs and board planes.

The value and comparative savings have been determined based on published rack rates and the value of inclusions. Please be advised that rack rates may not be reflective of actual rates being charged, dependent on the timing and manner of your booking and therefore are only indicative of the level of saving.

Travellers are advised to check with their local health professional at least 45 days prior to departure, as some vaccinations require 30 days or more to be effective. Proof of vaccination is not usually required unless you are coming from an infected area.

Your passport must be valid at least 6 months beyond your intended stay overseas.

Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is compulsory for all our trips. We require that, at a minimum, you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation. We strongly recommend that the policy also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage and personal effects. You won't be permitted to join the group until evidence of travel insurance and the insurance company's 24-hour emergency contact number has been seen by your tour leader. If you have credit card insurance your tour leader will require details of the participating insurer/underwriter, level of coverage, policy number and emergency contact number rather than the bank's name and credit card details. Please contact your bank for these details prior to arriving in the country.

Please note that while we operate successful tours in this region throughout the year, some changes may be necessary due to inclement weather and common seasonal changes to timetables and transport routes. This can happen with little notice so please be prepared for modifications to the route. The order and timing of included activities may also vary from time to time.

All activities and services are subject to availability.

Money in Iran: Please bring cash only, in US dollars or euros. You will not be able to use ATMs in Iran as the banks are state-run and do not accept foreign cards. Traveller's cheques are difficult to exchange and should be avoided. Upon arrival, the airport hosts currency exchange centres. Throughout the tour, your leader will assist you to find currency exchange centres. We recommend exchanging some money at the airport if you arrive on a weekend (Thursday & Friday) or public holiday as the currency exchange centres will be closed.

Dress Code in Iran: Iran is a very conservative country. Although being one of the safest and friendliest places to travel, it is very important that you are committed to following a strict dress code (particularly for women) in what may be quite warm weather. All women must wear a headscarf and have their arms and legs completely covered. Men must also dress conservatively.

Ramadan: May 2019 departure dates coincides with Ramadan Festival. Itinerary will operate unaffected.

Alcohol in Iran: Alcohol is strictly forbidden in Iran and severe penalties apply to anyone attempting to bring it into the country. Drugs are prohibited and can result in lengthy jail terms. If found, pork, obscene material (including glossy magazines showing people in immodest poses) and controversial literature will all be confiscated by custom officials.

Visas: All foreign visitors require a visa to enter Iran. For Australian and New Zealand passport holders, the Iranian visas are issued in a two-step process:

  1. An authorisation code for your visa must be issued by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Iran prior to your departure. Luxury Escapes will assist in obtaining your visa authorisation code. You MUST carry this authorisation code with you when you travel.
  2. Your visa can be obtained on arrival at Theran Imam Khomeini International Airport. You must present your authorisation code to immigration on arrival for visa issue. If you do not have your authorisation code with you, will be denied entry to Iran. Approximate cost of Visa on arrival is €150 - €160 per visa.

IMPORTANT: Visas will not be issued to people who have Israeli entry stamps in their passport. If you have Israeli stamps, we suggest applying for a new passport.

Please note: Restrictions apply to those holding an Iranian visa and wish to visit the United States. Once your Iranian visa is issued in your passport, you will not be permitted to apply for an online ESTA visa and will have to contact the US Embassy directly for US visa processing.

Please note: If you not travelling on an Australian or New Zealand passport, please contact the Iranian Consulate in your respective country as you may not be eligible for a visa on arrival and may be required to obtain your visa prior to departure. This may cause significant delays. Please check that you will have sufficient time to obtain a visa prior to departure.
