What You’ll Love…
The Hotel – One of Canberra’s finest with rich history at every turn
Canberra is the beating heart of Australia’s government, and there’s no better hotel to immerse yourself in its history than Hotel Kurrajong Canberra, located just a stone’s throw from Parliament House. Dating back to 1926, this storied hotel was designed by Commonwealth Chief Architect John Smith Murdoch, who also designed Old Parliament House. It’s played host to many politicians and members of parliament throughout history, and was once home to Prime Minister Ben Chifley, who lived at the hotel throughout his time in parliament. The hotel took inspiration from this famous resident for its Chifley Bar & Grill, while its beautiful art deco interiors, soft jazz music and library of books and artworks hark back to another era.
The Room – An elegant city oasis
Stay in elegance and comfort in your Classic Room (25 sqm), which comes with a plush king or queen-sized (or two singles on request) bed and little luxuries such as a Vittoria coffee pod machine, MOR bathroom amenities, an iPhone and iPod docking station and a wall-mounted LCD TV with Wi-Fi connectivity.
Historic Upgrade – Heritage Room (28 sqm): Upgrade to a Heritage Room to enjoy more space and a location in the original building built in 1926.
VIP Upgrade – Terrace Room (29 sqm): The even more spacious Terrace Room offers a pretty private terrace overlooking manicured gardens.
The Food – Daily breakfast and food credit included
Prepare for busy days exploring with buffet breakfast at Chifley’s Bar & Grill, plus return to the Prime Minister’s namesake restaurant for a delicious lunch or dinner using your included AU$25 food credit. Treat yourself to tempting dishes such as rib eye steak, spagettini with blue spanner crab, twice-cooked pork belly with Calvados apple compote and boozy caramel apple crumble.
See & Do – National attractions, art and culture in one of the world’s top cities for 2018
Lonely Planet declared ‘criminally overlooked’ Canberra as one of the top ten cities worldwide to visit in 2018. Australia’s capital, and home to the seat of the government, is rich with culture and countless things to see and do. Browse the city’s museums and galleries, including the National Gallery of Australia – home to the world’s largest collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artworks – take a stroll through the Australian National Botanic Gardens, see Parliament House and the Royal Australian Mint, go shopping at the city’s wide selection of boutiques, department stores and markets and immerse yourself in the vibrant nightlife, from beer gardens to cocktail bars.
