What You’ll Love…
The Resort – Located directly on the Southern Great Barrier Reef
Nature expert Sir David Attenborough said that the Great Barrier Reef is his favourite place on earth, and at the southernmost tip lies Heron Island. As one of the only resorts situated directly on the reef, Heron Island Resort serves as an idyllic sun-drenched nature retreat that showcases sandy beaches with crystal clear waters and an endless garden of coral.
Heron Island Resort is an advanced eco-certified resort which has been built to minimise impact and maximise an understanding of its unique natural environment. Imagine sipping on your complimentary nightly sunset cocktail while experiencing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see a clutch of baby turtles (check for hatching season before booking your trip) waddling into the water.
The Room – Only a short walk to the beach from your private deck
Embrace your natural surrounds when staying in a Turtle Room located on the ground floor. These rooms feature a queen-size bed, en suite bathroom with shower, tea and coffee-making facilities, a cosy indoor seating area and a furnished private timber deck that looks out across the tropical gardens and is also just a short stroll from the beach. As part of the eco ethos, there’s no air-conditioning, just ceiling fans in most of the resort’s rooms.
VIP UPGRADE: Get even closer to the beach when you upgrade to a Reef Room, just steps away from the crystal-clear waters of the Coral Sea. Inside you’ll find a queen-size bed, plus a comfy day bed, lounge area and a private balcony or deck located close to the beach, with partial reef and water views through a canopy of trees.
BONUS: Stay seven nights and receive a complimentary sunset cruise where you’ll glide through the waters of the Great Barrier Reef.
The Food – Daily breakfast, a dinner for two, a romantic picnic and more
Fuel up for a fun day exploring the island with daily buffet breakfast served at the resort’s in-house Shearwater Restaurant, where you can tuck into tempting options in a tropical setting.
Surprise a loved one with a romantic picnic experience with a complimentary gourmet picnic hamper and bottle of wine for you to enjoy anywhere on the island, and indulge in a sumptuous buffet dinner on one night during your stay at Shearwater Restaurant. You’ll also receive an AU$100 resort credit per room to use towards food and beverages. Plus, you’ll love unwinding each evening with a complimentary drink per person (your choice of beer, wine or sparkling).
