As you’re driven around China in an air-conditioned motorcoach, your local, English-speaking tour guide will teach you about and take you to the sights that are not only UNESCO World-Heritage sights but are also ingrained in** Ancient Chinese culture**.

Visit the famous Great Wall, built in 220 B.C. as protection from the Huns and other nomadic tribes. Discover the** Forbidden City, a palace complex in central Beijing that belonged to the Emperor and was off-limits to the public for centuries. Sight-see in **Qu Fu, known as the hometown of Confucius, a famed Chinese philosopher.

In Zhengzhou, visit the** Shaolin Temple**, known in the Western World as the most famous Buddhist monastery. Founded in the 5th century, this gorgeous piece of architecture is commonly known for its association with Chinese martial arts and, in particular, for its feature in countless Kung Fu films – we’re talking to The Karate Kid fans here.

Then, hop on a high-speed train to Xi’an where you will visit the celebrated Terracotta Army – over 8,000 terracotta sculptures that date back to the third century but were only discovered in 1974 by chance by local farmers.

Day 1 – Beijing

Arrive at the airport in Beijing, welcome by your tour guide and transfer to hotel.

Day 2 – Beijing

After breakfast, visit the Tiananmen Square, then enter the imperial-red walls of the ornate Forbidden City, the emperor’s palace – off limits to commoners for centuries. You will also visit the Temple of Heaven. Think of the processions of incense-bearing priest at the Temple of Heaven, where the emperor went to humble himself in prayer to guarantee realm’s good harvest.

Day 3 – Beijing

Enjoy your excursion to the ancient Great Wall, originally built as protection from the Huns and other Nomadic tribes and never completely fulfilled its purpose. Then take a rickshaw to visit the old Beijing Hutong.

Day 4 – Beijing – Qu Fu

After breakfast, transfer to Qu Fu via high-speed train. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and rest up.

Day 5 – Qu Fu

After breakfast, enjoy a city tour of Qu Fu. Qu Fu is best known as the hometown of Confucius, who is traditionally believed to have been born at the nearby Mount Ni. The city contains numerous historic palaces, temples and cemeteries. The name Qu Fu literally means "crooked hill" and refers to a mile-long hill that was part of the city during its time as capital of the state of Lu.

Day 6 – Qu Fu - Zhengzhou

After breakfast, enjoy some free time to explore or rest up in the hotel. In the afternoon, transfer to Zhengzhou via high-speed train. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel.

Day 7 – Zhengzhou - Shaolin Temple - Luoyang

After breakfast, transfer to Shaolin Monastery by coach. The day is dominated by the Sacred Mountain Song Shan and its temple, Shaolin, known for countless Kung Fu films. The Shaolin Temple was founded in the fifth century, is a Chan Buddhist temple that has long been famous for its association with Chinese martial arts and particularly with Shaolin Kung Fu. For the Western world, it is the most famous Buddhist monastery. Not far from the monastery, the pagoda forest begins, where over 220 grave pagoda are erected for the most famous abbots and monks. After the visit, transfer to Luoyang by coach.

Day 8 – Luoyang (Longmen Grottoes) - Xi’an

After breakfast, transfer to Longmen-Grotten to visit the impressive Longmen Grottoes. Longmen literally means “Caves of the Dragon Gate”. These caves are devoted to Buddhists and are one of the three most famous sites of the ancient sculpture of China. After the visit, transfer to Xi’an via high-speed train.

Day 9 – Xi’an

Spend a thrilling day exploring the excavation site of Xi’an Terra Cotta Army which holds more than 8,000 soldiers. Each soldier appears to have his own individual personality and many equipped with chariots and horses.

Day 10 – Xi’an

After breakfast, visit the Shaanxi History Museum, located northwest of the great wild goose pagoda in the ancient city of Xi'an, it is one of the first major museums in China. After the visit, transfer back to the hotel.

Day 11 – Xi’an - Wudang Mountains

After breakfast, transfer to Wudang Mountains by coach. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and enjoy some free time. The Wu Dang Shan consists of a small mountain range in the northwestern part of Hubei, China, just south of Shiyan. The Wudang Mountains are renowned for the practice of Tai chi and Taoism as the Taoist counterpart to the Shaolin Monastery.

Day 12 – Wudang Mountains

Today, enjoy a full day excursions in the Wudang Mountains. At the first national martial arts tournament organized by the Central Guoshu Institute in 1928, participants were separated into practitioners of Shaolin and Wu Dang styles. Styles considered to belong to the latter group—called Wu Dang quan—are those with a strong element of Taoist neidan exercises. According to legend, Taijiquan was created by the Taoist hermit Zhang Sanfeng, who lived in the Wu Dang Shan.

Day 13 – Wudang Mountains - Wuhan

After breakfast, transfer to Wuhan by coach. Upon arrival, visit the city of Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province. It is a major transportation hub with dozens of expressways passing through the city and connecting to other major cities. Stroll on Jiqing street, which encompasses tourist attractions, business, commercial and living accommodation.

Day 14 – Wuhan - Huangshan

After breakfast, transfer to Huangshan by high-speed train. Upon arrival, relax in the hotel.

Day 15 – Huangshan

Excursion on Huangshan. The Mountain is well known for its beauty, peculiarly-shaped granite peaks, Huangshan pine trees, and the clouds which often surround the hills. This mythical mountain constantly changes its image due to the winds and drizzle, which is favoured by traditional Chinese painting and literature.

Day 16 – Huangshan - Hangzhou

After breakfast, transfer to Hangzhou by coach. Hangzhou is well known for its beauty of the natural landscape and historic monuments. You will visit the village for the plantation of world-renowned "Longjing Dragon Well Tea". After the visit, relax at the hotel.

Day 17 – Hangzhou - Nanxun Village - Shanghai

After breakfast, visit Nanxun Village by coach. Nanxun village represents the traditional culture of Zhejiang Province. This town is well known for its old bridges, its riverside lanes, its waterfront residential areas and its residences combining the Chinese and Western architectural style and sumptuous gardens. After the visit, transfer to Shanghai.

Day 18 – Shanghai

First visit the Shanghai Museum, then enjoy some free time where you can shop at Nanjing Road at the large stores and boutiques. Then visit the bund, where you can experience the modernity of Shanghai.

Day 19 – Shanghai

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for flight back to your sweet home.

The tour begins in Beijing and ends in Shanghai. Getting to Beijing and from Shangai is easy with return flights from Sydney or Melbourne included in your package.

Flights will be with airlines like China Southern, Cathay Pacific, Qantas or similar. The flight time is approximately 16 hours.
