Arrival and departure transfers are only available on the first and last day of the tour. Any arrivals and departures outside of these days will need to make their own arrangements to/from the airport.

Travellers should have a basic level of physical fitness and mobility and must be able to negotiate uneven surfaces, climb stairs and board boats.

Travellers are advised to check with their local health professional at least 45 days prior to departure, as some vaccinations require 30 days or more to be effective. Proof of vaccination is not usually required unless you are coming from an infected area.

DAY 1 - ARRIVE IN MOSCOW

Today you will arrive in Moscow, where you will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, the afternoon is at your leisure. This evening, meet your leader and the rest of your group for a welcome dinner at the hotel.

DAY 2 - MOSCOW CITY TOUR

Spend a full day touring Moscow. Today you will see the most outstanding Moscow sites: Square of The Three Stations - railway Moscow Gate, Stalin’s Seven Sisters skyscrapers, Lubyanka Square and the building of the KGB, the Kremlin, the Bolshoi Theatre and more. Then you will take part in a tour of Moscow’s underground metro visiting the most remarkable metro stations in Moscow. This fascinating experience takes you through the busiest metro system in the world, used by up to nine million people per day (more than London and New York). Moscow's metro system is also over 350 kms long, with over 185 stations - one of the largest in the world. Experience the beauty of some the most remarkable Metro stations, many of them marble-faced with magnificent chandeliers, sculptures, impressive mural mosaics and stained glass.

After lunch (at leisure and own expenses), you will venture to the heart of the Russian capital in the Red Square, Revolution Square, and the Alexander Garden.

DAY 3 - MOSCOW

This morning you will visit the Tretyakov Gallery – the greatest collection of Russian Art. One of the biggest collections of Russian art which includes masterpieces which spans a period of a thousand years. The Gallery was founded by a Russian merchant and patron of the arts Pavel Tretyakov. He donated his collection to the city of Moscow in 1892. The State Tretyakov Gallery has since become a world-famous museum and nowadays it contains more than 170,000 works by Russian artists from early religious paintings to modern art. Your private guide will escort you through the 62 exhibit halls that feature approximately 100,000 works of famous Russian artists from 11th to early 20th century in English.

The rest of the day is at your leisure for some shopping or some rest.

DAY 4 - MOSCOW TO ST PETERSBURG

Today you will be transfered to the train station for an unforgettable first-class train ride with the famous Bullet Train. The Sapsan, Russian for Peregrine Falcon, travels at a maximum speed of 250 kilometers per hour, and it's the most efficient way to travel between the cities.

After checking in to the hotel, you will dine on traditional Russian cuisine in one of St Petersburg’s quaint local restaurants. In the summer months (May to September), your dinner will be followed by a sunset cruise where you can take in unparalleled views of the city.

DAY 5 - ST PETERSBURG

Today you will have the chance to explore this beautiful city and its glorious sites, including: State Hermitage Museum, the Admiralty, St. Isaac's Cathedral, Fine Arts Square, Church of Resurrection on Spilled Blood, Smolny Cathedral, Bronze Horseman and many other famous places.

After lunch, you will pay a visit to the stunning The Hermitage Museum/Winter Palace, that was once the personal art gallery of Catherin the Great, with a collection of over three million items.

DAY 6 - PETERHOF PALACE

Known as the “Versailles of Russia” enjoy a day tour of the impressive Peterhof Palace and gardens. The Peterhof Museum Complex, one of the most popular museums not only in Russia, but in the whole world where you will experience the majesty and history, which still lives on and breathes in this magnificent place. As a former residence of the Russian monarchs, Peterhof brings together the finest achievements in national and international culture. This unique complex was created by outstanding architects, decorators and sculptors, whose spectacular works of art slot perfectly into the natural beauty of the coastal landscape.

Return to St Petersburg in the late afternoon where the rest of the day is at your leisure to explore the city.

DAY 7 - FABERGE MUSEUM & CATHERINE PALACE

In the morning, your tour guide will take you to Pushkin where you'll enjoy a lovely walk through the gardens and visit the grandiose Catherine Palace - the summer residence of the Tsars. The Catherine Palace was originally built in the early 18th century for Peter the Great's wife Catherine I. It was completely rebuilt in by the architect F. B. Rastrelli in 1752 and later became the beloved residence of Catherine the Great, who invited the British architect Charles Cameron to work on the palace. You will see the dazzling Ballroom and the enfilade of rococo halls including the legendary 'Amber Room', now recreated since its 'loss' during World War II.

After lunch (at leisure and own expenses), you will visit the famous Fabergé Museum in St. Petersburg. Founded to preserve, study, and promote Russia's cultural heritage as well as to develop the city's extensive network of museums, the museum contains the world's largest collection of works by Carl Fabergé, including nine of the famous Imperial Easter Eggs.

Tonight, you will enjoy a special farewell dinner with your fellow travellers.

DAY 8 - TOUR ENDS

After breakfast at the hotel, your tour comes to an end. Transfer to the airport for your flight home (depending on your flight time the day is at your leisure).

Flight times will vary depending on routing, departure city and flight provider. Flights can be booked through China Eastern, Air China, Emirates and more.
