The Experience – The world’s most unique scenic flight
No place on Earth compares to the beguiling beauty and dramatic landscape of Antarctica. A desolate white wilderness, this polar continent is home to surreal remoteness and extreme cold, but also otherworldly ice shelves, towering ranges and a myriad of exotic life forms. Once the final realm of explorers and adventurers – who sought to push the limits of endurance and curiosity – nowadays, the Antarctic peninsula can be explored in complete comfort from the sky. From a staggering 4,000 metres above the clouds and wicked winds whisking and shaping the black rock below, the world’s most unique scenic flight offers a rare insight into this harsh yet remarkable landscape so few have the chance to experience.
Departing Sydney Airport, crossing the Southern Ocean, this private charter will spend four hours soaring over the world’s driest continent before returning to Sydney (total flight time approx. 12-14 hours). This is a unique opportunity to take in the scenery without experiencing winds that exceed 100km per hour and temperatures that drop below -60°C. All you need to do is sit back in the comfort of a reclining seat, with two full-service meals, full bar service, in-seat entertainment plus Antarctic explorers and expert photographers onboard. At the halfway point, passengers in Standard Economy class and above will swap seats, meaning equal time in a window seat for all (please note, seat swap does not apply to the Explorer Economy package).

Day 2: Sydney — Antarctica — Sydney
You’re in for a treat today. Wake early, pack a small day bag with your essentials and transfer to Sydney Airport (SYD) to check in for your flight. Your airport transfer will be either via coach (for Economy Class travellers), Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (Premium Economy Class travellers) or a two-seater executive/premium sedan (Business Class travellers).
Once onboard the Qantas 787 Dreamliner, chartered privately for our Luxury Escapes tour, relax in your comfortable seat of choice (see below) and take off towards the white continent to witness the vast wilderness of this untamed polar landscape.
Over the course of 12-14 hours (approx. 4 hours over Antarctica), venture high above the clouds and over the coast and mountains of the world’s most unique and enigmatic sights, rarely seen by humans.
Aboard your privately chartered plane, prepare to soar over a continent that escapes the boundaries of perception. At a reduced flying altitude of approximately 20,000 feet, watch as wave after wave of steep snowy mountains pass by, while vast glacial tributaries trickle between them, joining an immense flow of ice carvings out of valleys to the sea. Leaning into the plane’s large windows, with a glass of sparkling in hand, witness the giant crevasses in the ice, some 3km deep, as well as the tongues of glaciers and tops of Antarctic research bases. During the flight, you would typically hope to enjoy several hours of unforgettable viewing (weather permitting).
Should your seat class include it, a seat-swap system allows guests to change between adjacent seats, guaranteeing ample time in one of the two seats closest to the windows. You’re also free to wander the cabin, gazing at the view from the galley or mingling with new friends.
You will be accompanied throughout by the most experienced and knowledgeable Antarctic explorers, who will provide a fascinating insight into the polar environment and its history, as well as personal stories and experiences. You will also learn how to capture the perfect photograph with the help of professional photographers onboard, who will take photos and assist you with any questions on how best to use your camera — ensuring you not only take home unforgettable memories but fantastic photos as well.
Over the course of the journey, enjoy exceptional service from your Qantas cabin crew and two full-service meals with premium drinks (including sparkling, wine, spirits and beer), snacks and access to a range of inflight entertainment (Happy Feet is recommended!).
You will then be transferred back to your hotel for an evening at leisure.
