The Sites – Experience Europe’s fascinating culture, sublime scenery and striking architecture as you cruise the Danube, Main and Rhine rivers

Cruise the winding canals, uncover the artistic neighbourhoods by foot and experience the impressive accolade of Western European artwork at the Rijksmuseum Museum—arguably the city’s most important art venue—as you explore the beautiful city of Amsterdam.

Discover the village of Alken’s spectacular ruins of Thurant Castle, commanding the stage perched high up on a hill overlooking the village. Wander through the small lanes and past the half-timbered houses and decorative flower-filled window boxes before heading back to the ship and cruising past the imposing Rhine Gorge. Having been added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2002, the Rhine Gorge sits on the way to Mainz; alongside romantic castles, lush vineyards and river-side Lorelei rock.

Perched on the Rhine, experience the medieval ambience and ancient atmosphere of unique Mainz—boasting quaint market squares, traditional wooden houses and architecture that dates back to the 15th century. A guided walking tour will allow you to explore all this, before entering one of the oldest museums of printing in the world, The Gutenberg Museum.

Onto the majestic Main River, the medieval town of Wertheim will reveal itself as you explore its alluring roads brimming with ancient housing, medieval monasteries and the spectacular town castle. Be dazzled by Wurzburg—Franconia’s wine capital—before entering the Main Danube Canal and reaching the striking town of Bamberg. Arguably the most beautiful historic town, the almost-perfectly-preserved architecture, European heritage, Roman influence and Medieval streak takes Bamberg’s beauty to a tier of its own.

Uncover the troubled history of Nuremberg on a morning tour that’ll have you visiting World War II sites—including the Third Reich Party Rally Grounds—900-year old Medieval monuments and the captivating Imperial Castle. Make your way through the World Heritage-listed city centre of Regensburg, one of Germany's largest and best-preserved medieval cities, as you witness the stunning architecture and see the captivating gateway to an ancient Roman fort built in 179 AD.

As you continue to cruise down the Danube River, you’ll reach the mountainous Central European country of Austria. The first stop is magical Melk—where you’ll enjoy a tour of its famed 18th-century Benedictine Abbey—followed by the charming city of Vienna.

Famed for its oozing romance and legendary opulence and elegance, you’ll uncover the famed Ringstrasse—Vienna's main boulevard lined with palaces, parks and monuments and continue on to discover the quaint Old Quarter that features the striking St Stephen's Cathedral and Parliament building. With an afternoon to explore Vienna at your leisure, classical music lovers will be in utter heaven. Vienna offers many music houses, which are accessible by foot from the city centre including Wiener Konzerthaus, Wiener Musikverein, Wiener Staatsoper, Vereinigte Bühnen Wien and Jazzland.

The Slovak capital of Bratislava will welcome you with open arms on a morning guided walking tour of the city. Wander the pedestrian-only streets of the striking Old Town—which dates back to the 18th century and overflows with lively bars and street-side cafes—and view the commanding presence of the Bratislava Castle that watches over the Old Town.
