🌿 The Conscious Collection: Sustainability is changing the way people travel. We're doing our part to highlight the properties that are making a conscious effort to pay tribute to their natural and cultural environment, without compromising on luxury. On this tour, visit the Okonjima Africat Foundation, founded in the early 1990s and formally registered as a non-profit organisation in August 1993. The foundation strives to mitigate Human-Wildlife Conflict on commercial farmland, especially with regards to the lion, by educating Namibia’s youth, encouraging adapted livestock management and conducting essential research into and monitoring of wild lion populations. You will also visit an authentic Himba Tribe Settlement considered the last (semi-) nomadic people of Namibia. Speak to village elders and learn of the tribal customs of living off the land and living sustainably to ensure a future for its people

What We Love...

With itineraries personally designed, tried and tested by our in-house travel experts, you can expect the very best from every tour created by Luxury Escapes.

"Namibia is an incredibly diverse country offering visitors an unforgettable African experience", says John Saporito Product Manager for Luxury Escapes Tours. "Known for its beautiful desert landscapes and majestic sand dunes, it's the unparalleled wildlife that takes visitors by surprise. Expect to see unique wildlife not seen anywhere else on the continent, which has adapted to survive in the harsh desert conditions such as desert elephants and lions, an abundance of marine life such as pink flamingos, seals and whales. One of the only places in the country where the Rhino population is on the increase, Namibia gives you the opportunity to come up close to these amazing animals and understand the undergoing efforts to ensure their existence. A highlight of the journey is a visit to the remote Himba Tribe, one of the last remaining true nomadic tribes anywhere in the world, which gives a unique insight to Namibia’s roots.”

The Accommodation – Luxury lodges, hotels and safari camps in the best locations

Rest easy after exciting days amid the natural beauty of Namibia in luxury accommodations, hand-picked for their style and exceptional facilities.

Relax in style after your journey to Namibia at the Hilton Hotel Windhoek, nestled in the heart of the country's capital city. With elegant décor, enticing dining and entertainment options including a trendy rooftop Skybar, you are set for a smooth arrival at this luxury hotel.

Situated in the privately owned Ongava Game Resort, along the southern end of Etosha National park, Ongava Lodge offers just 14, luxury rock-and-thatch en-suite chalets, each offering impressive views over the camp's waterhole and surroundings. After days of exploration, relax by the lodge's pool, sip drinks at the bar and soak up unparalleled views over the reserve.

Your home away from home in Damarland will be the spectacular Mowani Mountain Camp - a one-of-a-kind camp nestled amid the red landscape of this untouched region of Namibia. Absorbed into the mountainous landscape, your luxury thatched suite is a private haven with sweeping views over the Damarland's landscape - making this one of the most magical stays during the tour.

After days in the dreamy scenery of Damarland, retreat to a beachfront oasis and embrace views over the bright blue waters of the South Atlantic Ocean with a stay at Strand Hotel Swakopmund, an extensive resort set on the Mole - a historic and iconic site in the city.

Your final stay in Namibia will be Desert Grace, an impressive lodge on the outskirts of the Namib-Naukluft National park and the sand dunes of Sossusvlei. Graceful spaces and outstanding hospitality imbue the modern lodge of Desert Grace, with its elegance of yesteryear, spirited character and refreshingly stylish interior. Take in the expansive desert scenery from your luxury bungalow, equipped with a private plunge pool.

The Experiences – Venture on intimate safaris, meet the Himba tribespeople and travel through some of the country’s best National Parks

Leave Windhoek, Namibia’s capital city, behind to visit the world-famous wildlife sanctuary of AfriCat to learn more about its role and rescue program, and to meet some of its resident big cats. Founded in 1991, the main focus of this sanctuary is the big cats' welfare: AfriCat runs the largest cheetah and leopard rescue and release program in the world, having rescued over 1000 animals from predators in the last 17 years.

Take an exciting game drive in the southern and central section of the Etosha National Park, stretching for over 20,000 sq km, one of the world’s greatest wildlife-viewing venues and also home to one of Africa's largest salt pans, visible from space. A mesmerising mix of grassland, woodlands and savannahs, the park boasts a remarkable number of mammals and bird species, including lions, giraffes, wildebeest, kudu, zebras and the elusive desert adapted elephants.

Offering the most dramatic collection of landscapes in the country, varying from magnificent table-top mountains to gorgeous rock formations and stunning vegetation, Damaraland might well be Africa’s hidden gem – a magical place giving the word 'wilderness' a new meaning. As you travel through this incredible landscape, you will meet one of the last truly traditional tribespeople of Namibia: the Himba people. As you visit a local settlement, your guides will tell you all the secrets behind these proud people, allowing you to understand their beliefs and way of life.

One of the most extensive rock-art galleries in the continent, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein will be your next stop on this fascinating journey through Namibia. Strewn over a hillside amongst flat-topped mountains of red sandstone, Twyfelfontein’s boulders and slabs of red sandstone hold some 2,500 prehistoric engravings that depict wildlife, animal spoor and abstract motifs.

Witness the sun rising from the highest sand dunes in the world, in the spectacular apricot coloured world of Sossusvlei - the most popular section of the Namib Naukluft National Park, one of the driest and oldest ecosystems on earth. Discover how the myriad of fascinating creatures and plants have adapted to survive this harsh environment as you enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime picnic in the shade of one of the majestic camel thorn trees that dot the park.
